The purpose of this article is to help you find a neurologist in Florida if you are:
- injured in any type of non-work-related accident; or
- injured while working and someone – other than your employer – caused your accident.
A neurologist is a doctor that treats problems of the brain and nervous system. If you are injured in an accident while working, and your employer has workers’ compensation insurance, the workers’ compensation insurance company will normally send you to a neurologist that is on their approved list.
But if you were injured in scenario #1 above, you may have difficulty finding a neurologist who will see you. Also, if scenario #2 above applies to you, you may also want to get a 2nd opinion from a neurologist if your workers’ compensation insurer says that you do not need anymore treatment.
When you call to set up an appointment with a neurologist, the receptionist may tell you that they don’t “see people who are involved in car accidents or personal injury claims.”
If you went to the hospital following your accident, the hospital may have recommended that you follow up with a neurologist. However, even this neurologist may refuse to treat you if he or she knows that you were in a car accident or had a personal injury as a result of an accident. Below in this article I have included a map of neurologists that I believe will treat you if you are involved in a car accident or had a non-work- related injury. These neurologists probably also accept workers compensation insurance and will treat you if you are injured on the job.
The most common accident related injuries that a neurologist will treat you for are:
- brain and spinal cord injuries (such as a bulging disc, herniated disc, compression fracture, slipped disk, etc.)
- headaches or migraines
- pain
To make life easier for people injured in accidents, I have created a map of some neurologists that I believe will treat you if you are injured in car accident or other type of accident. Even if you are in a car accident, I suggest that you select a neurologist that accepts your health insurance instead of signing a letter of protection.
