Miami Beach, Florida
An aerial view of South Beach (Miami Beach)

Someone’s negligence may cause your injury in Miami Beach car, motorcycle, scooter or other crash.  If so, you may have a case.

The south end of Miami Beach is called South Beach.  The upper end of Miami Beach is known as North Beach.

Let’s first look at some South Beach car and scooter accident settlements.

Scooter Rider Gets $25,000 after Taxi Hits Him in South Beach

17th street and Alton Road, South Beach (Miami Beach)

A scooter rider and a taxi were traveling northbound on Alton Road (SR 907) in Miami Beach.  The taxi attempted to make an illegal U-turn, cutting in front of the scooter rider and causing the collision.

The moped rider suffered some lacerations (cuts) to his legs.  He also complained of shoulder pain.

Miami Beach Rescue treated him at the crash scene.  He did not take an ambulance to the hospital.

The taxi owner, listed on the police report, was Transportation Specialty Brokers.  Ascendant Insurance Company insured the taxi company.

The insurance policy listed them as USA Taxi.  The moped rider was diagnosed with a possible impact fracture to his upper arm bone (humerus).

He did not have surgery.  I represented the injured scooter rider.

Ascendant wouldn’t offer more than $18,000.  I sued them.  We settled shortly after for $25,000.

Scooter Rider Gets $10,000 for Injuries from South Beach Accident

5th and Alton Road in Miami Beach, Florida

A man was riding his scooter on 5th Street and Alton Road in Miami Beach, Florida.  A driver of a car ran a red light.

The crash ejected the rider from his moped.  He landed on his right shoulder and rolled onto his left knee.

The driver of the car was cited for running a steady red light.  United Auto Insurance Company (UAIC) insured the driver who ran the red light.

The at fault driver’s policy only had $10,000 in bodily injury (“BI”) liability insurance.

The scooter rider did not have insurance on the scooter.  He had uninsured motorist insurance on his car, but is was nonstacking.  It did not cover him for this wreck.

The scooter rider suffered scratches and bruises.  He was transported to Mount Sinai Hospital by Miami Beach Fire Rescue.

He was diagnosed with a right dislocated shoulder at Mont Sinai Hospital.

He was unable to put his arm down.  His pain was noted as being a 7/10.

He had abrasions on his left arm, left cheek and left knee.  He was prescribed Percocet.

He was told to keep a sling and swathe on his shoulder.  X-rays were taken of his shoulder.

About 2 months later, a doctor stated that he had a concussion.  He healed very well.

Better odds drivers in Miami Beach have insurance

Miami Beach is a wealthier city.  Generally speaking, people have more money in Miami Beach than in cities like Homestead, HialeahMiami Gardens and Cutler Bay.

This means that many drivers in Miami Beach are more likely to have bodily injury (“BI”) insurance, and in higher amounts.

Private passenger cars in Miami Beach aren’t required to have to have BI liability insurance.

If another driver’s carelessness caused your crash in Miami Beach, they are likely to have BI insurance.

In terms of the odds of the careless driver has BI insurance, Miami Beach car accidents are similar to Kendall, Coral Gables, South Miami and Doral.
