Imperial Fire & Casualty is part of National General Holdings Corp.
I like having good experiences with car insurance companies. Some auto insurance companies are better than others. My experience with Imperial Fire & Casualty Insurance Company (RAC) has been terrible.
In the past 2 Miami car accident cases that I have had with Imperial Insurance Company, they:
Rarely answer the phone.
The majority of the time that my office called Imperial Insurance (RAC), my staff told me that the claims adjuster (person handling my client’s personal injury claim) did not answer the phone.
My experience has been that when I dealt with car insurance companies like Travelers Insurance, Liberty Mutual, Geico, State Farm, Nationwide Insurance, Allstate and many others, the claims adjuster answered the phone much more often than RAC (Imperial Insurance).
It is very frustrating not being able to speak with the claims adjuster, especially when the person in the car accident needs to be able to see a doctor or get paid for missing work after an accident.
Rarely return voice messages.
An assistant of mine told me that in the past 2 cases that I had with Imperial Insurance, the claims adjuster was not good about returning voice messages.
It is annoying not to get a return phone call, especially when my office is calling to find out whether RAC (Imperial Insurance) is receiving my client’s medical bills from the hospital or doctors who treated my client.
Solution: If Imperial Insurance Company is not returning your calls or letters, you may want to file a consumer complaint. You can read this post which explains how to file a consumer complaint against a Florida car insurance company.
This may get Imperial to respond to your calls or letters. It stinks that you may have to file the consumer complaint (which takes a 2-3 minutes), but at least (RAC) Insurance should respond.
I wish Imperial Insurance was easier to deal with and that this article could have said good things about RAC (Imperial) but at this time I can’t. My experience was that RAC insurance had poor customer service in regards to car accident claims.
In the next case that I have with Imperial, I hope that the claims adjuster promptly return calls from my office.
I would not like to be insured with them. I can only imagine that due to the difficulty reaching them that they may be slow in getting my car fixed under the collision coverage in my auto policy if I was in an accident.
I recently settled a personal injury case for a pedestrian who was hit by a car insured by Imperial Fire & Casualty. Imperial paid its insured’s $10,000 in bodily injury liability insurance limits quickly because my client was badly injured. I also received a $100,000 policy limits settlement from my client’s underinsured motorist insurance company, who was Progressive Insurance.
