They insure much more as well.
GEICO Drivers Usually Have Bodily Injury Liability (BIL) Insurance
For the past 16 years, I have represented people injured in car accidents. During that time, I have only had a couple of cases where a driver insured with GEICO did not have BIL insurance.
1 in 5 Cars with BI Are Insured With GEICO in Florida
Generally speaking, there is a 1 in 5 chance that if you hit with by a private passenger car that has BI liability insurance, you’ll be dealing with GEICO.
Most GEICO Policies I’ve Seen Have 10/20 BI
I mostly see $10,000 per person/$20,000 per accident bodily injury (“BI”) liability insurance with drivers insured by GEICO.
I’ve Also Seen GEICO policies up to $300,000 BI
I have settled Florida personal injury cases with GEICO where the limits were $10,000, $20,000, $30,000, $50,000 and $100,000 and $300,000.
That being said, I rarely see GEICO policies with more than $100,000 in BI liability coverage.
GEICO Has 5 or so BI Field Adjusters in Florida
If you have a case that is worth much more than the BI limits, GEICO may hand deliver the check.
Higher Chance You’ll Qualify for UM Insurance
You have a higher chance of qualifying for uninsured motorist (“UM”) insurance through GEICO in accident. This is because GEICO is more likely to sell UM insurance than smaller car insurance companies.
Can Report a Claim 24/7 With GEICO
GEICO can be reached any time, day or night, any day of the year. This is true for calling in a new auto injury claim.
GEICO claims adjusters available 9 to 5
Once an injury claim has been set up, GEICO adjusters are available during normal business hours (9 a.m. to 5 p.m.)
GEICO Has After Hours Claims Adjusters
You can also speak with a GEICO claims adjuster after hours.
GEICO Adjusters are Usually Available
GEICO is more responsive than many other Florida auto insurers. This means that it is easier to get a GEICO injury liability adjuster on the phone.
Contacting GEICO for a Florida injury claim
GEICO’s current address for Florida claims can be found here. For PIP claims, send any written letters to the current Personal Injury Protection (Auto-PIP) contact. Currently it is:
Attn: BI liability claims
PO Box 9091
Macon GA 31208
You can also send bodily injury claim information to that address as well.
Geico’s email address for Florida claims is flclaims@geico.com.
Slim Chance GEICO Goes Broke
GEICO is financially stable.
They claim to have a solid reputation. They are referring to both financial strength and customer satisfaction.
However, financial strength does not mean that they will pay fair value for a claim. The cases in this article are not mine unless I say that they are.
GEICO May Offer Presuit Mediation
To GEICO’s credit, they have offered pre-suit mediation in the past two cases that I have had with them. I accept pre-suit mediation if GEICO offers it.
Don’t Believe GEICO’s “Top Offer”
I was disappointed in another case that I have where Geico’s final offer – prior to me sending them MRI films – was $10,000 even though their insured driver received a ticket for failure to yield right of way.
My client, a man in his early twenties, was diagnosed with knee injury (a tear of his meniscus) and herniated disc.
This $10,000 offer is less than the amount that I use as a starting point for the full value of the pain and suffering component of a herniated disc settlement. That does not factor in the medical bills.
The claims adjuster told me that $10,000 was his final offer. I told him it was unacceptable. That case later settled for $100,000.
The moral of the story is do not always believe a claims adjuster when they tell you that they are giving you their “top offer.”
Back in 2005, I used to like it when I drew Geico in a personal injury claim. Then they got terrible for a while.
Lately, Geico has become worse in terms of paying bodily injury (BI) claims. Do not feel bad making an injury claim against Geico. GEICO made $587 million in profit in 2011.
Lawsuit Claimed that GEICO Undervalued Claims
Anyone Can Check Claims Status on GEICO’s Website
GEICO’s website let’s anyone – who has a claim with GEICO – check the status of the claim. A user needs a claim number as well as some other basic information.
I have not seen the information you have access to once you enter the relevant information. I’m curious to know how it looks.

Why is it important to know the proper names for each GEICO company in Florida?
Sometimes GEICO will treat an accident victim unfairly. The injured person can file a consumer complaint with the Florida Department of Financial Services.
The victim may also file a civil remedy notice of insurer violation, against GEICO, with the Florida Department of Financial Services. In certain circumstances, a civil remedy notice may be particularly effective in a UM claim against GEICO.
The accident victim needs the correct GEICO entity name. This will prevent the department from rejecting the filing.

I would advise no one to ever use geico for insurance. My husband motorcycle was stolen on august 8th 2017.
I have been in contact with several agents to get this matter resolved everytime i call i get the run around , they act as if they are getting personal satisfaction for not issueing the claim , we were sent papers to get notorized and we sent them back next day, the claim has been approved for at least a week and haven’t recieved the check yet.
Also have left several messages for adjustor and have not recieved call back from her {nicki] or her supervisor. To me it sems like they dont want to issue the check, like its their money, but they want you pay your payments on time.
The check was approved over a week ago and don’t have it yet. I strongley do not recommed geico insurance

Thank you for your comment.
I’ve sorry to hear that you’re having a bad experience with GEICO. I, too, have had a bad experience (actually more than one) with GEICO.
I’ve dealt with GEICO adjusters who are friendly, and I’ve dealt with others who weren’t so nice.
However, in fairness to GEICO, there are insurance companies that I believe are worse at paying injury claims than GEICO. (One company to stay away from is Progressive).
In cases where I don’t feel like a GEICO adjuster is treating me fairly, I ask to speak to a supervisor. If I can’t get the fair resolution that I’m looking for, I consider filing a request for insurance assistance with the Florida Office of Insurance Regulation. That has helped before, although I only file a consumer complaint if GEICO is truly being unreasonable.
GEICO adjusters, like adjusters from all insurance companies, have a lot of claims at one time. This is sometimes a reason for delays.
